Written by Vonpire on 25.11.2010 at xvi:15After several listening, i came to conclusion that this anthology is a brilliant metal masterpiece, so I can't agree at all with the rating of the review, it's too low for such an amazing anthology. Also I don't hold that this album has no memorable songs. Songs like Lilith immaculate and, especially, The Spawn of Love and State of war are absolutely bright and memorable.
You say it's a masterpiece without a word of explanation. Should I accept your words completely at face value? I don't think so...

Yea i agree this album wasnt too memorable, when compared to other CoF works. information technology isnt exactly a bad anthology but naught special imo.
And I actually do like Thornography besides. Its not my favorite and but i thought it stood on its own and liked the uniqueness and catchiness of it. it was skilful alter of step, and is better than putting out a cookiecutter album.
Simply so again it usually takes me a few listenthroughs to warm-upward to a new CoF album(happened with GotDT, and Thorn), so perchance ill finish upward realy liking this i in a month or two. hopefully.
EDIT: Eh, however don't like it. Pretty much everything you state in your review almost the album is how I feel. Except I would've been a bit harsher on the ratings, probly like a half-dozen.five in my book.

I wrote it in my comments before. It's my opinion, and obviously you don't agree with it, no problem at all. I don't agree with yours too, and then what's your point hither? I am not a reviewer, so i rate albuns solely by what i heed, and by what I have listened so far, yes, this is a brilliant anthology, that IMO deserves much more than than 7,3. Also I'one thousand not the simply 1 who thinks it, crusade even with all the haters and stupid ratings it still has 8,2 in boilerplate, and It has much more 10 / nine / viii than 7 or beneath. I don't need to "dissecate" a album to rate information technology. I but have to heed to information technology, ENOUGH, times to brand my rating. I never rate a album, without a least 5 listens, fifty-fifty if it appear weak at first.

You didn't answer his question, don't get to sensible about information technology. He has at least some reasons to dorsum his rating. He was just curious about which are your reasons to dorsum up your rating.
AND FFS... Since when information technology's 7,3 bad?! It means that information technology is good... seven is practiced... so this album is actually More than than just good.
I can't understand this, in that location will always exist people that become to whiny just because the album isn't in a higher place 7.

I tin can't sympathise this, there will e'er exist people that get to whiny only because the album isn't above 7.

Read all my posts on this anthology and yous'll come across the response. i'm non going to write it all again. Too that, this album is 8.2 not 7.3.
I just said i didn't agree with the rating. Is there any problem with that? Or I have to hold with every rating that reviewers do? I've seen here reviewers rating same album with completely different rates, so I could do a review also and charge per unit information technology 9, then at that place would be people discording with Information technology. And then I don't go what's all this about.
Unless I am non allowed to discord the rates of some reviewers, which is a complete nonsense.
Read my comments outside this review. I stated at that place many things that would help you guys have your response.

I don't recall you understood my point. Just ever since I got in this website I've seen that there are TONS of people who completely overreact and go all "holy shit dude y'all are so farthermost with the rating, the album is neat at all information technology'due south brilliant !!!111oneone" when the reviewer but a 7,0 which is just obviously stupid since vii still means that the album is GOOD.
Then again, you don't seem to be that sort of a whiny guy, don't be one. There's zero worse than a fanboy who thinks that 7.0 is a total disaster of a rating.

7.three is too high, I call up. It was not good at all. A blur of insane drumming and Dani's weakened, tenuous voice. I experience dumber subsequently listening to information technology.

My first thought upon 1st listen of the anthology was similar to yours, but i gave it a try (as i always practice) and it turned out to exist the best thing i've done, cause now I think this anthology is brilliant!
Here, my starting time post
"For what i heard so far i am not that impressed. I'm gonna give information technology a few more than spins and then I'll say what i recall of It. Equally with any album, one opinion can't be based in solely 2 listens... "

People really tend to become sensible whenever COF is concerned... Personnally I though this album was pretty apathetic for the four or five first times I listened to information technology. But isn't that very skilful news? This band has been criticized for a couple years precisely because their music had slowed down and had go to accessible. Well, good BM is supposed to take similar 10 listens before you can actually dissecate and appreciate it. COF hadn't sounded and then black metally since Cruelty and the Brute and Aversa is definitely a very potent, tight, extreme and catchy meloblack metallic anthology, with gothic-infused breaks like The Persecution Song and Forgive Me Father I Accept Sinned thrown in for good mensurate. Now you tin can scream COF IS Not BLACK Metallic YOU STUPID CUNT!!!

Oh the drumming. Goddamn triggered drums, they practically ruin the fun.
Well, they don't in fact, as this is a fun album. I was quite surprised at its rhytmic ferocity and the overall quality which I certainly didn't expect (that might be due to the fact that I didn't bother to lsten to "Godspeed" afterward the mediocre "Thornography" and practically forgot about this band; a mistake which shall be rectified).
And the riffs, in places complimented very nicely by the keys, oh yes, this works for me. Equally I've said earlier, I'll take contemporary CoF over nosotros-tin't-write-riffs-and-nor-can-we-construction-songs-properly-so-nosotros-rely-on-pompous-orchestration Dimmu Borgir any day.

Funny, because that album is naught like Dimmu Borgir's latest and has surprisingly few orchestrations in it. Mayhap you're mistaking "Darkly..." for some other album?

I... what? No, I just think the album is drowned in pretty cheesy keyboards, I tin barely even make out the riffs. It sounds like the guitars are only there to pummel some distortion and requite that "heaviness".
Before this album, the songwriting principle was that Cradle lay downwards some crawly riffs that are backed by keyboards, but on Darkly, information technology sounds the other way effectually. Which I think doesn't work too well.

Love the speed, hate the indisguishability between songs. I totally agree with Daniell. The usually and then catchy riffs are not-existent, and nosotros're left with Dani's classic intro-screams (something new please). And it'due south too long. I must agree with some of the commenters though, "Lilith Immaculate" is a effin' awesome song.

Skilful, fast, dynamic, guitarwork amend than on previous anthology. Although still, not as memorable equally Cruelty or Midian.
